New Project launched with College of Information Engineering (COIE) at Al-Nahrain University in Baghdad

The project promotes exchange between the two universities and aims to enhance the qualitiy of education in IoT at Al-Nahrain University.

The College of Information Engineering (COIE) at Al-Nahrain University in Baghdad, Iraq and the Institute of Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics (ivESK) at the Offenburg University of Applied Sciences are launching a joint project.

The project on “Applied Research, Development & Teaching on Internet of Things for Sustainable, Secure, and Safe Communities” (ARTISSS) aims to support exchange with international partners and implement democratic structures in teaching and scientific research. It also aims to have a direct impact in current curricula by applying hands-on exercises through lab upgrades for IoT and embedded systems in the COIE. The project is the first collaboration between the two universities and it is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in the program line “Ta´ziz Partnership for Democracy”.

Prof. Dr.-Ing.Axel Sikora, scientific director at ivESK , believes that the project will promote future cooperation between the two universities. Also it will foster entrepreneurship in science and technology towards advanced communication solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things.

Prof. Dr. Emad Al-Hemiary, faculty member of the COIE is pleased about the cooperation “Having this international cooperation with ivESK will encourage postgraduate students to focus on research and implement new ideas in the field of IoT and Embedded Systems.”

Ms Adian Shubbar, who is currently a student researcher at ivESK pursuing her CME master program in Offenburg, and alumna from COIE is promoting gender equality and academic freedom which have an important impact on the educational society. “This project is great for my home country. IvESK has given me the opportunity to grow and acquire important research skills which are in demand in the industry. I believe having this excellent opportunity for exchange students will change their future career and perspective”.
