Forschung im Fokus 2023

The ivESK participated with three contributionsIn the current issue of "Forschung im Fokus"

„Smart Meter Inclusif” - Sicherheit für intelligente Zähler

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Axel Sikora, Ivan Rigeov, Andreas Walz

The 2030 European energy vision seeks a secure, sustainable, and competitive energy system through the deployment of smart grid technologies to improve efficiency, integrate renewables, and enhance resilience. Distributed smart grids require robust security to protect against cyberattacks, unauthorized access, and data breaches, preserving privacy and critical infrastructure. To cover these aspects of the Interreg project „Smart Meter Inclusif“ (SMI), the ivESK team executed the work package „Security concepts for distributed Smart Grids“ and performed a comparative security analysis and Smart Meters penetration testing.

Zertifikatsverwaltung für Geräte auf der Feldebene

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Axel Sikora, Julian Göppert, Andreas Walz

With the ongoing implementation of Industry 4.0, there is an increasing need for cryptographic protection of communication on the field level of industrial automation systems. This trend calls for an effective and efficient management of public-key certificates on field devices. In the following, recent research results from the research project “FieldPKI” are presented that addresses that very challenge.

Testkomm4.0 - Testumgebung für LPWAN- und 5G- Technologien

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Axel Sikora, Fabian Sowieja

The new narrowband wireless communication solutions create manifold novel opportunities, but also challenges for developers and users of applications in the Internet of Things. In collaboration with the Hahn-Schickard Institute in the Testkomm project, a test environment for wireless communication technologies is being set up to execute systematic comparisons of different Low Power Wider Area (LPWA) networks, cellular IoT (cIoT) and 5G networks. The test environment allows to flexibly perform uniform and reproducible test with LPWAN and cIoT technologies for industrial use cases.
