Successful defense of the doctoral thesis

Andreas Walz successfully defended his doctoral thesis on February 14, 2025.

As a research assistant at the ivESK, Andreas Walz completed his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Prof. Axel Sikora, who supervised him as part of his association with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Freiburg. The topic of his thesis was “Syntax-Aware Differential Fuzzing of Black-Box Network Protocol Implementations”. In his thesis, Mr. Walz was able to design and implement very powerful approaches to test complex security protocols for the IoT in particular.
